The Gjirokastra Conservation and Development Organization (GCDO) is an Albanian Non Government Organisation.  Established in 2001, its mission is to conserve, revitalise and promote the historic city of Gjirokastra.   The GCDO is funded by the Packard Humanities Institute and is a sister organisation of the International Centre for Albanian Archaeology (www.icaa.org.al).  
The GCDO has the following objectives:

1. To conserve Gjirokastra’s historic buildings and to assist in the protection of the UNESCO World Heritage city.
2. To help foster economic regeneration in the heart of the historic city.
3. To promote sustainable development in the city and the wider region.
4. To support and advance the cultural life of the city.
